Raw Edges

Giraffe & Lion is the interpretation of the YUU system by Yael Mer & Shay Alkalay for the Triennale in Milan.

At the occasion of celebrating Yuu system at the Internazionale Salone del Mobile we wanted to create something sculptural and playful, using the system in a fashion that would probably not be used in a domestic environment. Focusing the fact that Yuu system allows connecting profiles perpendicularly, we set two structures, where paralleled diagonal profiles create graphic pattern. One wide structure, the other taller, this take inspiration from a classic Israeli children book Mits Petel. A lion and a giraffe need to get hide from a rabbit. The lion goes behind a wide bush where the giraffe behind tall tree. We hope that these two structures will anchorage visitors to walk around it almost if it was a playground.
